THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS! SATURDAY AT THE HATCH SHELL A Grand Event for Family and Friends
The multi-week-long celebration was kicked off this weekend with a beautiful Flag Raising Event in the anchor towns of Billerica, Acton, Westford, and Sharon. These events will continue at other anchor towns throughout the month of August.
We are looking forward to seeing you all at Hatch Shell for the Grand Celebration, a showcase of the unique ethnic and cultural diversity of India, at the DCR Hatch Memorial Shell in Boston - Bharat Parikrama - Path around Indiaâ€. The program has two distinct segments – Heritage Mela, and Cultural Mela.
Heritage Mela Highlights 12:30 - 3:30 pm
- Dance Workshop - Classical and non-classical dance forms from India
- Music Workshop - learn and practice Indian classical/Western fusion singing at the music workshop
- Art Corner - for kids
- Tattoos Corner for kids
- Variety of Vendor Tables
- Special 75th Anniversary Give-away bags (please collect from IAGB Table)
Cultural Mela
- Dances and Songs from various regions from India - A cultural program presented by the many highly talented arts groups in the Greater Boston area. We will feature dances and songs of India, along with Classical and Bollywood Dance performances.
- Blend of Classical and Western musical performance from Learn Quest and local Youth Band Group 'Trouble Clef'
A wide variety of mouthwatering Indian food from Boston’s renowned restaurant ‘Treasury Kitchen’ will be available for purchase.
A large number of Indian American organizations in the Boston area will have informational booths on the lawns presenting various Indian Heritage interests and activities.
There will be shuttle services from Boston Common Garage (hours 1.30 to 4.00 pm)
