Over fifteen thousand people are expected to attend the event that will comprise a grand cultural function, replete with dances, songs, craft and delicious Indian food. On Sunday, Ausust 15, 2004, from 4.30PM until 9PM, the air at the Hatch Shell auditorium in Boston will be awash with sweet sounds of merriment and fun.

The central attraction is a cultural program showcasing the various talented music and dance groups in the area. There will also be food stalls, vendors and community information booths at the venue.

“We will have plenty of activities for the whole family. SAHELI, a woman's support group will be setting up Henna and a food stall" said Usha Vakil, of SAHELI and IAGB.

Each and every citizen of New England is invited to attend this free event and to taste a slice of India! “The ‘Mela’ like atmosphere will appeal to the young as well as the old and the IAGB cultural program will have something for every member of the family.” Promises this year’s dynamic IAGB program committee.

IAGB is the premier Indian-American organization in New England and represents various other associations of Indian-Americans here in an umbrella capacity.

Besides organizing large community events such as Indian Independence and Republic day celebrations, IAGB sponsors various charitable and community development programs. Endeavoring to be the voice of the Indian-American community of Greater Boston, IAGB serves as a communication channel between civic and political leaders and the community.
