"International Yoga Day is observed on June 21 to spread awareness about the benefits of Yoga. This year is the 8th International Yoga Day. Nataraja Yoga Center and Satsang Center of Woburn, MA celebrated this event on 19th of June on Zoom with 45 participants.

This year the Yoga theme focused on how Yoga helps Diabetic people to manage or to prevent Diabetes.

After welcome, opening prayers were led by Sireeta – our youngest yoga teachers @ age 11; and Dr. Subhashree - Psychiatrist.   We were honored to have Dr. Dineshbhai Patel inaugurating with Deep Prajwalan and delivering his message of the Yoga with Body, Mind and Spirits for Humanity.

Then Sudhirbhai showed the importance of Yoga activities, especially incorporating Humming – Gunjan during the Asana Practices.

Dr. Rameshbhai Ragothaman presented the research on Gunjan – Humming creating Nitric Oxide and how useful Nirtic Oxide is in combating viruses etc. and how he helped himself in his life as he deals with children as a pediatrician.

Team of volunteer teachers performed and guided the group with yoga activities for three hours from 8 am – 11 am.

Niru Parikh with Hansa Shah demonstrated Micro & Dynamic Yoga, Sudhirbhai led Surya Namaskar, Pankajben showed Diabetes Asans & Kriyas, Dr. Bhasker Jhaveri covered specific and difficult Asans for diabetes and introduced another version of Ab Crunching.   All these practices can be done simultaneously with Gunjan.  He also gave very good information on diabetes.

Our youth yoga teacher (@ age 13), Shrija had shared her experience working with Autistic children with a focus on Pranayam Practices and her own experience.  Bindu Gupta led the group with Pranayama Practices, Sudhirbhai demonstrated Cyclic Meditation with introduction of Tutti Fruitie Meditation.  Then our 79 years young Kamalbhai led us for Laughing Yoga and our really young yoga teacher Chetan Jhaveri (certified @ age 14!) led Chair Yoga – Surya Namaskar for folks who cannot do Regular Surya Namaskar.   Our youth volunteers Khushi and Megha performed the Yog Dance Spirit.

This outstanding IYD concluded with world peace prayers by Dr. Shubashree & Sudhirbhai.

Thanks to all participating audience, yoga teachers and special thanks to our yoga teacher Harshal Morperia for managing the entire event flawless on zoom.  The presenters were from NH, MA, NJ, NY, MD, CT and PA and there were people in the audience from Bharat too!

We pray that all of you get inspired and join actively in yoga activities for Humanity and Peace.   Vasudhaive Kutumbakam!

May all be Happy, May all be Healthy, May all be Prosperous and May no one suffer on account of Me (Us!). Om Shantih, Peace Om!   May Peace be within and without me.  There can be No peace, unless I Love all and hate None, I love everything and hate nothing.   Wish for Peace (Bliss!) and Prosperity (Physical, Mental and Spiritual), Health and Happiness to ALL.
