Lokvani wishes all its readers a very happy Ram Navami!

Ram Navami denotes the divine descension of Lord Shree Ram in Treta Yug.  Appearing at noon on a bright sunny day, He was the eldest son of King Dashrath and Mother Kaushalya.  Shree Ram manifested out of His causeless grace for the upliftment and welfare of the souls.

Whether we realize it or not, we are all devotees of the Lord.  Sage Valmiki in the Ramayan and Saint Tulsidas in the Ram Charit Manas both write in their sacred texts that there is no one in the world who is not surrendered to Shree Ram, and He is dearer to each than their life airs!  These are very substantial statements but true.  How?  Lord Ram is an ocean of infinite bliss.  And being His tiny parts, we are naturally drawn to that bliss.  Though we may be separated in consciousness from Him, we are tied to God by the yearning for happiness.  Seeking bliss means to seek the source of all bliss, which is God.  Hence, we are all in the quest to attain the Supreme Divinity.

The celebration of Ram Navami provides us an opportunity to move toward God.  It is a chance to deepen our love for Him by engaging in His devotion.  Shree Ram performed numerous enchanting pastimes (leelas) in His avatar.  Today, those leelas have become a basis for devotion.  By remembering His pastimes and chanting His divine name, we can nurture love for God in our hearts.

The Ramayan states: â€œIn his descension period, Lord Ram helped only one Ahalya.  However, since then, by chanting the divine name ‘Ram,’ billion fallen souls have elevated themselves.”  That is the power of God’s name, form, virtues, pastimes, abode, and saints!  By contemplating, meditating, and chanting the glories of the Supreme, one can purify the mind, and move towards attaining divine bliss and love.
