Dr. Kiren Patel & Kamaal Haasan participate in Akshaya Patra’s 2021 Chicago Gala

 Akshaya Patra Foundation USA held its first in-person event in almost two years on Sunday, November 14th in Chicago. The event exceeded fundraising expectations, furthering Akshaya Patra’s mission to serve nutritious meals to underprivileged children to fuel their minds and further their education. The funds raised from this event will support the mid-day meal beneficiaries, currently serving 1.8 million children daily, and furthering food relief for vulnerable communities throughout India.

Key-note speakers Dr. Kiren Patel (Philanthropist, Businessman and Cardiologist) and renowned Actor Kamaal Haasan highlighted the evening. Attendees were also treated to entertainment from the talented Rex D’Souza and the brilliant Shilpi Paul.

The Chicago Gala raised over $540,000, a significant increase from the previous year of

$340,000. The team would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Kiran Patel for participating as a special guest and motivating others to open their hearts and wallets. To our Chicago Chapter Chairs Dipak Kapadia, Saroj Patel, and Sanjay Garodia, we’d like to issue a sincere thank you for all your hard work and effort on behalf of this Gala. Additional recognition is needed to acknowledge Ketu Amin for providing his Hotel Marriott of Oak Brook as the event’s venue; and to Rahul Saigal from Cuisine of India Naperville, IL, who with an enormous heart donated the entire catering for the event. We would also like to thank the Village of Oak Brook, especially Mayor Gopal Lalmalani, Trustee Suresh Reddy, and Police Chief James Kruger for their total support of our Gala! Thank you all!
