Diwali marked at the Whitehouse


Diwali, this year was marked at the white house by lighting of the Diya by President Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden on Thursday Nov. 4th 2021. A Diwali message was also tweeted by President Biden.

And a message was released by VP Kamala Harris via a tweeted video in which VP Harris wished all the communities celebrating Diwali on behalf of her and 2nd Gentleman Doug Emhoff.

This was a historic Diwali for the Indian American community with VP Harris being the 1st ever Indian American to hold the 2nd highest office in the land. 

Unfortunately due to the pandemic, there were no official program celebrating Diwali at the white house this year.
