KAMS Charity Organizing Global Virtual Geeta Govinda Musical Event

KAMS Charity is a non-profit Organization in USA, organized a Divine Global Virtual Musical Event on the occasion of Sri Krishna Janmashtami, “Geeta Govinda” (pastimes of Sri Radha and Krishna) written by famous Poet Sri Jayadeva in 12th century and composed by Pandit Sri Gopal Chandra Panda. Panditji is a Researcher, Vocalist and Composer who has worked tirelessly to compose the 24 Geeta Govinda ashtaoadis into 8 original Raga-Tala. 

Today’s event started at Indian time 8 PM with 25 plus countries joined KAMS Charity Zoom and Facebook live steaming from around the world and witnessed the blissful and divine Geeta Govinda event from 113 Signature Studio, Bhubaneswar. Guru Gopal Panda started the event with Prabandha Sanskrit Sloka followed by Dr Mitali Chinara who is the disciple of Guruji started the Dasahavatara Asthapadi (Pralaya Payodhi Jale) followed by Sri Binod Bihari Panda, Smt Sangeeta Panda, Mrs. Sarita Panda, Ms. Shruti Mishra who performed several other Asthapadis. The finale for the Geeta Govinda event “Srita Kamala” was mesmerizing performed by mother and daughter duo Smt. Sangeeta Panda and Ms. Shruti Mishra. 

The accompanists did an amazing job supporting the artists; Professor Jawahar Mishra (Flute), Sri. Niranjan Sahoo (Mardala), Sri Nikunja Samal (Tabla), Sri Bibhu Tripathy (Key board). 

KAMS Charity USA Life Time Achievement Award 2021 was bestowed to Guru Sri Gopal Chandra Panda and to do this honor, Padmashree Dr. Aruna Mohanty was present. Dr. Aruna Mohanty thanked KAMS Charity for the noble work being done and recognizing Guru Gopal Panda and his lifetime work with Odishi and Classical music. Dr Mohanty mentioned Guruji’s name is synonymous with Odishi music. She mentioned the world is waiting to listen to his Odishi compositions. Dr. Aruna Mohanty also felicitated every participating artists and musicians. 

Popular playback artist Sri Saurav Nayak who is the disciple of Guru Gopal Chandra Panda performed beautiful Krishna bhajans including Madhurasthakam and Bollywood Krishna bhajans that made everyone speechless and immersed the global audience into divinity in the eve of Sri Krishna Janmasthami. 

In the final segment there was mesmerizing flute recital by Master Asit Mohapatra who captivated the audience with most popular Krishna bhajans like “Shyam Teri Vanshi” “Bada Natkkhat hai re” and few other songs. 

Sri Gulshan Nadeem was the anchor person for the event who explained the Geeta Govinda Asthapadis beautifully before the start of each Asthapadi. He received so many positive comments from the international audiences regarding his anchoring skills. 

Thank you note was given by Mrs. Aparajitta Swain, Founder of KAMS Charity who thanked all the performing artists, with Lord Jagannath’s blessings.  Mrs. Swain mentioned “This historic event is a humble effort working together with our Global KAMS Charity families, volunteers and Kindness Ambassadors  from 25 plus countries to promote our very own art and culture at an international level. We will continue to make efforts to encourage under-served and under privileged artists”. Odisha Society of Americas (OSA) President Mr. Gyana Patnaik, Secretary Mr. Pramod Mahapatra and many prominent personalities were present in this event.  Mrs. Swain also thanked the volunteers Mrs. Sangeeta Tripathy, Mrs. Ritanjali Patnaik, Mr Malay Biswal, Mr. Samarendra Mishra, Mr. Suresh Balachandran and Mr. Sanjeeb Swain.
