Press Release
08/12/2021

Vision-Aid organized their first successful online camp "Summer Chess for Beginners" from June 28th-July 2nd, 2021 with the help of Ronak Wakhlu, a rising Sophomore at Lexington High School.  Vision-Aid launched the Vision-Aid Youth Force in June 2021 with Dr. Monika Manocha Wadhwa who recently joined as Council of Ambassadors, Co-Chair.

Vision Aid Youth Force's mission is to involve youths through workshops and events, by contributing their time and effort to raise funds for Vision-Aid projects & for the Covid Relief Team in India. Through these activities' youth volunteers, ages 13-19, get an opportunity to give back to their community.

“A book cannot by itself teach how to play. It can only serve as a guide , and the rest must be learned by experience.”, goes a famous quote.

This Chess camp, in the spirit of the quote, was conducted as the first step with the goal to raise funds, promote Youth talent and advance Vision-Aid's mission to enable, educate and empower persons with vision-related disabilities so that they can live with independence and dignity.

This camp was a great success and was attended by 10 students from Elementary to High school from various towns. Ronak received very positive feedback from all the participants for running an engaging, fun, and informative class. Through this effort Ronak was able to raise $300 for COVID relief team in India.

Ronak is an avid chess player and has won several top prizes in Chess tournaments in school and various organizations.  Ronak is very passionate about Vision-Aid, and started working with Vision Aid from the summer of 2020, by helping quality check their curriculum.

"Vision Aid is a wonderful organization that helps provide education for the visually impaired, and I like teaching chess", says Ronak. "It's a win win!"

Ronak will be conducting several additional camps for actively supporting their noble cause.  He is now preparing an Intermediate level chess Camp to help Vision- Aid projects

Vision-Aid is looking for such energetic and compassionate youth to join Vision -Aid Youth Force and make a difference. Please contact Dr. Monika Manocha Wadhwa for details.
