Sneak preview of the KARNATIC AND HINDUSTANI MUSIC CIRCLE (KHMC) 2021 Annual Day Program

KHMC is pleased to present their annual program on Sunday, March 28, 2021, starting at 5 PM. Many of the readers of Lokvani are quite familiar with the services of KHMC with a motto of “bridging genres and connecting generations”. For the past few years, KHMC’s annual program is a much-awaited one in the community; typically, this one is dedicated primarily to the three pillars of the support system, namely, the artists, audience and the hosts, that the organization has been built and functioning upon.

Since the Covid lockdown in March 2020 until now, KHMC has been conducting virtual weekly concerts on Zoom, every Sunday, from 5-6 PM, presenting artists from all over the USA, with support of KHMC volunteers. This year’s annual program has been planned carefully, catering to diverse audiences.

The event will commence with a lec-dem on the origins of Indian classical music with a touch of connection to the Vedas, followed by a mashup of Ragam Bhoop and Bilahari by the classical music students of our own local area teachers.

Next segment will feature a panel discussion on Music in a new 'Virtual' World by KHMC teachers/committee members.

It is said that dance is “music in motion”. Two senior and passionate dancers, will present the next item, a Thillana composed by the great patriotic poet, Subrahmanya Bharathi; choreographed by renowned guru, Smt Rajee Narayan. This will be followed by a Carnatic-Hindustani Rapid Fire - an evolving and endearing segment, indeed.

The program will be concluded by a bhajan in Raag Bhairavi, by the KHMC Committee members, who are all performing artists themselves.
Please mark your calendars and tune in on Sunday, March 28, 5 PM on this link
