Sunday, May 9th, give mom a break and make a “Happy Mother's Day breakfast and lunch" with very little fuss. Try making a special do-ahead-except-for-the idli dosa or aloo paratha breakfast. And, in addition to the coffee and fruit, you might like to cook some instant food, decorate the table with some simple flowers in the garden, and give Mom a big hug and kiss.

Breakfast : 7.30 am . Steal quietly into the kitchen (even though mom is wide awake and pretending to sleep) and stir up her favorite breakfast. Or rather make one that will become her favorite

Choices :
1. 1 Packet of Idli rawa Mix. Follow the instructions carefully and load the idlis . Caution take the help of an older sibling or worse, ask dad to pitch in.
2. Grilled veggie and cheese sandwich or toasted bread with Jam.
3. Whip up a neat omelet loaded with her favorite toppings.
4. Combine all her favorite cereals in a pretty bowl with a strawberry on top and serve with milk (skim variety)

Lunch: 12.00 pm.

Make sure you have in handy some Patak’s curry paste or any other brands of mix to sizzle up the lunch. Use your imagination and toss in frozen veggies, paneer, chicken pieces etc and mix with the curry paste. Hola ! Lunch in ready. Open a can of black beans, add a few cherry tomatoes, scallions, cilantro and sweetened corn. Add lemon juice or vinegar with a dash of olive oil for a nutritious salad. Bring out frozen parathas or cook rice. And of course bake a cake for Mother’s day.

Dinner: 7.00 pm

Ask Dad to make a reservation at Mom’s favorite Dining Place ( in advance). There is only so much you can do. And have the best dinner outing ever.

Happy Mother’s Day!
