It is with extreme sadness that we grieve the passing away of Sharad Shastry of Northborough, Mass., a prominent member of New England's Indian-American community on Tuesday, April 6. Sharad Sastry worked for National Grid in Westborough, Mass., and held a degree in electrical engineering from Northeastern University. He was a member of the board of trustees and past president for the Sri Lakshmi Temple in Ashland, MA.

He leaves his wife Shobha Shastry, the owner of Alankar event/wedding planners and decorators, daughter, Shaila and his two sisters, Champa Shastry and Pramila Nene, both of India.
