The India Association of Greater Boston hosted a farewell event for the Hon. Consul General Sandeep Chakravorty on June 23, 2020. Several community leaders joined IAGB in applauding the work of the consul general. After opening remarks by the President, Sanjay Gowda, Director Sanjay Kudrimoti coordinated presentations by several individuals who wanted to share special words for the Consul General.

Sandeep Chakravorty had the challenging task of pivoting the consulate to provide services during this extraordinary time. In addition to going virtual, the consulate had to handle a variety of issues including services for stranded students, medical assistance for seniors who were unable to return to India to get their medicines refilled and so much more. He should be applauded for skillfully navigating the consulate.

Ekal Vidyalaya, SEWA,  New England Telugu Association, Gurjar,  Saheli, New England Marathi Mandal, Team AID were some of the organizations who expressed their appreciation.  Latha Mangipudi, Ranjani Saigal, Mohan Nannapeneni, Supriya Saurabh, Saroj Madan, Kanchan Banerjee, Ram Penumarthy, Parmit Makoday, Kanchan Banerjee, Dr. Balram Singh and others wished the consul general well. The vote of thanks was given by IAGB director Sushil Motwani.

Those gathered appreciated his genuine concern for the Indian Diaspora.  He went out of the way to participate and support the community. No event was too small for him.

His deep knowledge of a wide variety of subjects and his empathy for people made him very special. He will be missed.
