Poetry And Music With Kiran Nath

Sandeep Chakravorty, the Consul General of India officially launched the Bhajan single - “Hey Dukh Bhanjan Raghunath” composed, sung and produced by Kiran Nath. The composition for this bhajan was by Shri V.N. Shrivastava. The virtual launch featured poetry recitation, music and dance by local artists. The event titled “Poetry and Music with Kiran Nath’” was held on June 19th.

“When I read the poem “Hey Dukh Bhanjan Raghunath” by Shrivastav Ji I was really moved by the words. It is such an appropriate poem for the times we live in. So I decided to put it to music” said Kiran Nath. Kunal Nath provided the guitar accompaniment and Shameeq Nath mixed the single.  The event was compered by Parveen Minocha.  After a brief introduction, Ranjani Saigal presented a dance to the Tulsidas composition “Tumaku Chalathu” to the accompaniment of Kiran Nath’s singing.

Sanjay Kaul introduced the Honorable Consul General who released the single. Sandeep Chakravorty applauded the artistry of the evening. “Kiran Nath ji I invite you to participate in the virtual events hosted by the Consulate”.  

"I am 90 years old and I am not able to see the computer screen very well. I am really impressed with the musical composition that Kiran has created out of my poem. It has touched me deeply. I am so grateful to her for doing this. My blessings to all the artists here today" said Shri V.N.Shrivastava, the lyricist.

The evening was a special treat for poetry lovers and music fans, as the best artists of the community came together, recited Kiran ji's poems/gazals. Syed Ali Rizvi ji recited 'Haath ki lakeeron ko..;, Harish Dang ji - 'phir phool khila barsaat aayee', Sunayana Kachroo - 'Waqt he to hai badal jayega', Pradeep Shukla ji - 'phir se diya jalao', Poppy Charnalia - 'phir aaj muskura do..', Mitali Wahidi - 'ek kagaz ka tukda', Preetpal Singh ji - 'chai peyoge kursi le lo baith jao..', Kunal Nath - 'deewane karengi tumhari ye..'.  Parveen Minocha - 'Andhera tha yahaan wahaan jalta raha chirag’. 

“I am so amazed to see the talent of Kiran Nath ji. I only knew her as a singer. Listening to her poetry and compositions I am simply amazed. What a talented person she is!” said Preeti Chakravarthy, a music teacher in the Boston area. All the artists commended Kiran Nath ji not only for her talent but also for her ability to bring people together. It was evening of joy and positivity, a much needed feeling in these special times. 

A special shout out to  Surendra Nath  for brining this program together, lifted our spirits! We look forward to more such programs in the future.
