HSS Appreciates Our Teachers - On Occasion Of Teacher's Appreciation Week (Guru Vandana)
Suressh Jain 05/22/2020
Each year, Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) does a Guru Vandana program where students invite their teachers and honor them in the traditional Hindu way. The event is a beautiful way for Hindu students to show their respect for their teachers. The special circumstance this year led to the cancellation of the in-person event. Students sent a lovely note to their teachers accompanied by a video.
Here is the letter and the video.
I hope you and your loved ones are doing well and staying healthy during this unprecedented and challenging time. The word “guru” means someone who guides us from darkness to light. As this debilitating virus disrupts life as we know it, you have taken extraordinary steps to educate your pupils and keep them motivated, going above and beyond the call of duty.
Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) USA is a voluntary, non-profit, social and cultural organization. HSS conducts structured programs of regular athletic and academic activities to develop strong character and leadership skills in its members for emphasizing values such as self-discipline, self-confidence and a spirit of selfless service (seva) for humanity.
Each year, HSS celebrates Guru Vandana (Teacher Appreciation Day). This is a day where we truly express our gratitude to our beloved teachers in a traditional Hindu way. Because of the unfortunate circumstances this year we are unable to have a physical program. We would like to express our gratitude and hope to use this letter and the attached video created by your students from HSS - as a symbolization of our program of Guru Vandana.
In sincere humility, please accept our compliments for the job you do in inculcating values in the next generation of leaders and visionaries. You are the strongest pillars of society and make the world a better place to live.
