Voice of the People – SAPNE Fall Meeting Nov 10

The fall meeting of the South Asian Poets of New England is scheduled to be held on Sunday, November 10 at 2 PM in Lexington Public Library.  The program is called “Voice of the People” where the participants are invited to recite memorable poems in their native language or a new composition following the classics.  Since India Discovery Center will host the India Freedom seminar later in the month, it would be nice if poets keep attention on the freedom songs in different language.

On October 20th, the Strand Theatre in Boston was alive with hundreds of dancers dressed in their vibrant classical Indian Bharatnatyam costumes, their families beaming with pride, taking pictures in elaborate poses, and over 1200 mesmerized audiences soaking up the beauty, colors and tinkling sounds of classical dance bells “ghungharoo”. This was the 43rd Annual Show of the Triveni School of Dance.
