Hamza Akram Qawwal & Brothers To Perform In Lexington

This young, dynamic, award-winning group is amongst the very top of the new generation of dynamic, young Qawwals in the subcontinent.

Hamza Qawwal belongs to the oldest Qawwali Gharana in the subcontinent, Delhi Gharana, started by the first pupil of Amir Qhusrau, 800 years ago. Now they are based in Karachi. This Gharana has produced some of the most famous Qawwals in the subcontinent.

Their lineage is the whos who of the Qawwali world. They started their 45 day US tour on October 18 in New York. Lexington's performance is part of that tour. In their 2018 US tour, they performed to sold-out crowds in Dallas, Washington DC, Toronto, New York, Chicago, and others.

Sufi Hamza Akram Qawwal & brothers are amongst the top new crop of leading young Sufi Qawwals. Grandsons of legendary Ustad Munshi Raziuddin, they belong to the oldest Qawwali Gharana, 800-year-old "Qawwaal Bachcha Gharana" also known as "Dehli Gharana". They are direct descendants of Miyan Salamat bin Ibrahim, the first Qawwali student of Amir Khusrau.

Hamza Akram & Brothers have been trained and performed Qawwali with their famous uncle, ustad Fareed Ayaz. He took them under his wings. Hamza & his brothers have toured all over the world as a frontline singer for the most famous Qawwali group of Pakistan.

This award-winning Sufi ensemble represents the 26th generation of the seven centuries-old Qawwal Bachon ka Gharana of Delhi founded by Saamat bin Ibrahim, the first qawwal of the subcontinent and principal student of mystic Amir Khusrau.

Hamza and his brothers, Taimoor and Abdul, have toured and performed in major venues and music festivals of the world.
