Milan And Essence Of India Present East Meets West

Milan and Essence of India present East Meets West "East Meet West", an outdoor, free, cultural event, scheduled this year for Saturday, 14th of September at NARA Park, Acton from 2 pm-6.00 pm. The event takes place in collaboration with cultural organizations of several countries presenting the Multicultural traditional, classical, regional performances of music, dance, costumes, Several booths of booths of traditional art and craft, cultures, clothing, henna, food representing the culture and heritage of the world. Participating countries are India, Japan, Italy, Brazil, Peru, Ghana, Korea. Nepal and Vietnam.
East Meet West is the discovery and celebration of the traditional art and culture of various countries to explore the similarities and uniqueness of the cultures through a series of ethos of the participating countries. It’s an opportunity to build constructive bridges of mutual understanding and trust creating harmony and peaceful co-existence in today's fast paced but misunderstanding, hate and crime infested environment. Essence of India with 7 years of very successful events and over two thousand visitors participated in the events that celebrated the classical and folk performances, crafts and traditions of different regions of India and participating countries. Essence of India successfully lived the vision of togetherness and community harmony while introducing other countries and the Essence of India's spirit of working with each other and not against each other. Kudos to the Togetherness of Seema Kapoor and Sunanda Sahay.
"Milan" is a 100% Volunteer driven, non-profit, 501 (C)(3) association of people from India living in United States with chapters and membership across the United States of America, pursuing participative mission of sharing and caring in giving back to the non-partition, secular, social, civic and economic issues of the mainstream Americans and Indians in order to build better friendly and strong relationships, reliance, interdependence and mutual understanding for each other. ‘Milan” strongly believes in “When we understand each other more …. We hurt each other less”
Here we celebrate the traditional art and culture of India to foster constructive relationships between individual, communities and institutions of different cultures.We create and support programs, services, and resources for interaction with academicians, policy makers, youth activities, Community events and networking workshops, charitable activities for the benefit of School going needy children, skill development programs, Back to school underprivileged children and participation in Indians and non-Indian communities, School, universities, Towns and states events.
The goal is to interact with mainstream America to create community visibility by bringing communities together and building cultural bridges, a step to get our community involved and have voice in the social -civic- economic- political issues of the mainstream America.

Saheli, a 23 year old organization works tirelessly to provide support to South Asian women and families in the Greater Boston Area. They are holding a fundraiser, Nirbhaya on Dec. 8th at the Boston Marriott in Burlington, MA. Meenakshi Garodia, Priya Murali and Divya Chaturvedi talked about Nirbhaya and Saheli.
