Dozens of colorful kites flew high above Boston Harbor at Spectacle Island on Saturday, August 10th on a beautiful summer day. The American India Foundation’s New England chapter in partnership with Boston Harbor Now organized an outing, 'Reach for the Sky,' to Spectacle Island as an appreciation picnic to its supporters.  On a picture perfect day, more than 70 people turned out to enjoy a ferry ride out into Boston Harbor and indulge in various outdoor activities on the island.

“Along with the wonderful weather and the great food was the shear picturesque beauty of the Island.  And to top it off, the kite flying was a blast from the past, although my kite did have a crash landing!! – Anisha and Ravi Kacker

The event included a ferry ride to Spectacle Island, food, and kite flying. The attendees also enjoyed excellent weather for relaxing on the beach, hiking on the two hills comprising the island, or swimming in the still-cold water. There were other activities scheduled like a Bolly X dance, henna and music by the Berklee India Ensemble. The food was provided by Nirvana, along with cooling drinks to keep people going throughout the day.

The event is an annual event organized by AIF New England as an appreciation for their support. For more information go to www.aif.org
