Tarak Mehta ka Oolta Chashma (TMKOC) is a hindi language sitcom based on column of renowned humorist Late Padmashri Tarak Mehta. It was written for Chitralekha for 47 years. The characters in the sitcom were already immortal when TMKOC started in 2008. Today it is in its 11th year with 2740 plus episodes under its belt. It has already broken records and is in the Guinness book of world record as longest running daily comedy show. The show is created and produced by Asitkumar Modi of Neela Tele Films Private Limited. It airs from Monday to Friday on SAB TV.

Recently our Boston couple Eshani and Chandu Shah appeared on the serial for about 5 episodes as part of a story highlighting childhood friendships.

Eshani, who is the daughter of Shri. Tarak Mehta, said that it's like homecoming. Contributing to dad’s legacy. There is so much love on the sets during shooting and from fans all over the world who are both readers and viewers. Appearing as couple from Boston sort of has opened up an opportunity for future appearances.

Chandu Shah said, I have acted on stage and in film but this was the first time acting for television. I believe this is the most difficult medium of all. It was very exciting shooting with my friends and also being part of a legendary feel good show. Our track was to show how thrilling it is when two childhood friends meet after many years. The story has very funny twists and turns.

The major part of the shooting is done on the sets at film city” or “Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari” in Goregaon, Mumbai. However, some parts of the show have also been shot in places such as Gujarat, New Delhi, Goa and in foreign locations such as London, Brussels, Paris, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is a story of Gokuldham Society where families from different cultures live in harmony. All the families stay united and remain together in happiness as well as in times when a family is in trouble.

Chandu and Eshani represented Boston in the show and this was also a hint that the show may travel to USA in future when at the end leaving the society for airport Chandu and Eshani invited the whole Gokuldham society to USA.
