The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) recently announced class X and XII board results that witnessed students scoring cent per cent marks or losing simply one mark. This year also saw a remarkable rise of top scorers from the Humanities stream...

The problem with perfect scores is directly related to the poor quality questions, which can be answered by rote learning...

“Evaluation is treated as a trivial and low-paying job. An evaluator is expected to check around 100 scripts in a day and gets an average of 15 minutes along with Rs 30-50 per answer sheet. One can only meet this target by completing the task mechanically leaving no chance for deep analysis of answers."
