A Community Center Vision
As the scope of activities has grown, the space for activities has become a key constraint – driving the need for expansion. This was one of the key outcomes of our strategic plan – ISW2020.
Here is an update on our progress so far.
What is the vision ?
With the planned expansion, India Center will be a community center, a hub where the Indian American community congregates, and a foundation for India Society’s community engagement efforts to the community at large.
We envision multiple activities with diverse age groups, both scheduled and spontaneous take place at the same time, giving the community the ability to strengthen its network.
The ISW Executive Board has appointed two ad-hoc committees who are already hard at work.
India Center Expansion Committee is chaired by Mr. Rajiv Dayal . It has been working diligently for the last several months to understand the needs and iterate on designs. We are working with local architect Mr. Kirit Upadhayaya to build detailed design documents that will allow us to secure bids from builders.
We anticipate the design process completing by October 2018.
India Center Fundraising Committee is chaired by Dr. Sanjay Shah and Dr. Satya Mitra. It has begun the work of building a fundraising plan for the center, working closely with the expansion Committee.
A gala event is being planned for November 30th 2018 with more details coming soon !
