For the nearly 300 people from across the state of Connecticut, who had come together to celebrate their culture, traditions, and fellowship during the 10th annual Onam celebrations organized by Malayalee Association of Southern Connecticut in Trumbull, CT on September 15th, it was a way of cherishing their rich culture, while paying homage to those who had lost their lives, properties and to some, everything they ever had owned, due the devastating floods that inundated the beautiful state of Kerala and the livelihood of millions last month.

Asian Art Gallery To Host Show “Local Artists For Local Cause” Featuring Indian Diaspora Artists Supporting Local Charities

Over three upcoming weekends, The Asian Art Gallery, a social enterprise with a mission to promote artists from South East Asia, shall host a show featuring 19 New England based artists. The net proceeds from the sales at the event shall be donated to Big Brother Big Sister and Food Shelter.

Arangetrams are meant to be the first formal concert in public for an aspiring musician. Typical expectations include a solid grasp of the technical fundamentals of the music along with the sort of preparation required to sing a full-length concert in the traditional paddhati. What is not necessarily expected is the complete composure and abandoned singing that we saw in this concert by Yash Ravish, a student of Smt. Tara Anand.
