ISKCON Temple of Boston performed with utmost jubilance the unveiling of Srila Prabhupada’s Brass Statue on Sunday, Aug 5, 2018 at 11:30AM with hundreds of devotees. This historic event was attended by very enthusiastic devotees with their family members and friends. In honor of Srila Prabhupada’s contributions to the world, a sculpture depicting Srila Prabhupada’s landing at Boston terrestrial from Jaladutta was installed outside the ISKCON Boston temple

This incredible brass statue is depicting Srila Prabhupada’s arrival to the West on the Jaladutta cargo ship and landing on Boston soil. There is a companion sculpture that depicts Srila Prabhupada boarding the Jaladutta in Calcutta, West Bengal in India that has already been installed at ISKCON Temple Calcutta. Together, these two sculptures commemorate the historic journey of Srila Prabhupada from Calcutta to Boston. An intricately carved sculpture of Srila Prabhupada and the Jaladutta cargo ship monument is made of brass with a granite pedestal, and measures 205cm. It was created with devotion by one of the most talented sculptors in Ukraine, Vladimir and gifted by devotees in Ukraine.

His Holiness Niranjana Swamii, HG Pyari Mohan Prabhu, HG Jiva Mataji participated in the event as special guests with many other SP disciples. Shri Niranjana Swami Ji unveiled the statue at 10:30am and all the Pooja rituals were performed with full devotion and proud feelings. Special Kirtan was followed by the unveiling of the statue and Pushpanjali presentation. From 11:30 am to 12:00 pm Arotik/Kirtans were performed. Shri Niranjana Swamii Ji delivered his special very thought provoking guest lecture to the audience.

His Holiness Niranjana Swami was born on December 10, 1952, in Lowell, Massachusetts, USA. In 1972, his spiritual search took a turning point when he saw a Bhagavad-Gita. After completing his study of the "Gita", he continued his research of Gaudiya Vaishnava philosophy by purchasing and reading several other publications from the same author, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. By mid-1973, he accepted a monastic life, moved into the Boston temple, and accepted initiation from his spiritual master, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, in the early spring of 1974. Soon thereafter he received brahminical initiation. Shri Niranjana Swami has been traveling extensively throughout North America, the former Soviet Union, and India, lecturing on the teachings found within the books of His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada.

Shri Vanamali the president of the temple thanked everyone for their participation. Mouth-watering Maha Prasadam was served to all the devotees by the very dedicated volunteers of the temple. Everyone enjoyed the event.
