Ekal Reaches Historic Milestone And Is Now In 70,000 Villages

Press Release
07/05/2018

Ekal Vidyalaya, an organization that brings education to rural remote villages at the low cost of a $1/day has now expanded its reach to over 70,000 villages bringing basic literacy to over 1.9 Million children. Ekal continues to be ambitious and is working hard to reach the goal of 100,000 villages soon!

The target to reach 100,000 villages had been set in the year 2000 when Ekal had its presence in only 4000 villages. The success of the expansion program is a testament to the hard work and selfless services by thousands of volunteers in the Ekal villages and cities in India and around the world.

Having a presence in 100,000 villages will have a dramatic impact on transforming the rural landscape.

In addition to basic literacy , Ekal also works to bring digital literacy , health services and skill training to the villages.

Ekal Vidyalaya thanks the donors for all their support.
