SABA GB Congratulates Neil Sherring On His Confirmation As An Associate Justice For The Massachusetts Housing Court

The South Asian Bar Association of Greater Boston (SABA GB) congratulates Attorney Neil K. Sherring on being confirmed as an Associate Justice in the Massachusetts Housing Court. Attorney Sherring as has been a long-time Advisory Board member of SABA GB, volunteers as a teacher for SABA GB's "Know Your Rights!" community legal education program, and has over 25 years of experience practicing law.

Attorney Sherring was nominated to the Massachusetts Housing Court by Governor Charlie Baker, who noted that "We are proud to nominate a diverse slate of candidates with the experience to join our expanded Housing Court that will now serve the entire Commonwealth."  The Massachusetts Housing Court hears cases involving the welfare of homeowners and those who live in residential housing, including eviction cases, civil action suits and small claims cases.

Attorney Sherring has been a Partner in his law firm Dakoyannis & Sherring, LLC for the past 17 years, focusing on landlord tenant and real estate related cases, personal injury claims, insurance disputes, and employment discrimination claims. Prior to that, he served as a trialattorney at Mintz,Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky & Popeo. Attorney Sherring alsohas extensive experience in public service, representing the Commonwealth as an Assistant Attorney General, Assistant District Attorney for the Northwestern District of Massachusetts, Massachusetts Superior Court Law Clerk and Hearing Officer for the Division of Insurance.

In addition to his legal experience, he has been the Chair of the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education Program, "Trying Your First (or next) Civil Case in the Superior Court," and Co-Chair of the "Deposition Skills Workshop." He serves as an ex-officio for the Massachusetts Bar Association and was formerly the Co-Chair of the Massachusetts Bar Association General Practice, Solo & Small Firm Committee. He has served as the Deputy Commissioner of the State Athletic Commission and has been a frequent lecturer at Suffolk University and Curry College.

Attorney Sherring earned his Bachelor's Degree from Curry College and his Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School.

SABA GB supports increased diversity in the judiciary and offers support and resources to candidates who are interested in applying.

SABA GB will be honoring Attorney Sherring, along with five fellow SABA GB members who have had extraordinary achievements in the past year, during a reception on July 18th at the John Adams Courthouse from 6-8 p.m., and all members of the area legal community and well-wishers are warmly welcome to join the celebration.
