Vidyabhushana is a classical vocalist from Karnataka and is known for his mesmerizing bhakti filled, soul stirring renditions that transports the audience to another realm. He sings devotional songs, chiefly Haridasa compositions, in the carnatic classical music style. He has undergone extensive musical training from stalwarts such as Sangeetha Kalanidhis  R. K. Srikantan and T. V. Gopalakrishnan. He has many devotional music albums in Kannada and Tulu to his credit, and has given concerts all over the world. Performing for more than 30 years, he has traveled to many countries including several tours across the United States. He is visiting Boston for the 3rd time. For most people in the southern Indian states ( Esp Karnataka), strong memories are associated with songs such as Pilangoviya Chelva Krishna; Nammamma Sharade and of course the Dwadasha Stotra rendered in the wonderfully soulful voice of Vidyabhushana and this is an opportunity to reconnect with those in person.

He will be accompanied by well known local musicians -  Giridhari Venkatadri on violin, Ullas Rao on mridangam and Rajesh Pai on tabla. This concert is presented by NE SRS Brundavan, the first US branch of the Mantralayam Raghavendra Swami Mutt, in association with Kala Tarangini.

Additionally, on June 4th, there will be an opportunity for music enthusiasts to participate in a 2-hour music workshop with Siri Vidyabhushana at the Raghavendra Swamy mutt (in Lowell) and learn and soak some of his magic in a smaller group setting.

The concert and music workshop are both NE SRS Brundavan fundraisers and the proceeds will not only help sustain the currently volunteer-run Raghavendra Swamy mutt, but also help take an important next step towards appointing a full-time priest and acquiring a permanent location for the mutt. NE SRS Brundavan is a grassroots community mission and in just 2 years since its launch, it has already established a vibrant community around the volunteer operated temple in Lowell that is open for darshan 3 times a week. The temple offers stotra and Sanskrit classes for children and adults and also conducts home based paduka pujas of Raghavendra Swamy and has arrangements for pradakshinas of the Padukas every Thursday. In addition to grand monthly celebrations at the mutt including full Mutt-style theertha prasada served on leaves, the organization conducts annual Raghavendra Swami Aradhana and Madhwa Navami. These grand events attract devotees from near and far in New England and surrounding areas. This year, the Aradhana will be in September and is expected to draw more than 1000 devotees.
