Chinmaya Mission Boston will be conducting the chanting of all 18 chapters of the Holy Srimad Bhagavad Gita on Sunday, May 13th. The chanting will be led by all grades of Balavihar students, teachers, parents, volunteers and community members.
Srimad Bhagavad Gita, often referred as the Gita, is an ancient Hindu scripture, composed of 700 verses in Sanskrit contained within 18 chapters, that is part of the world's longest epic poem of the Mahabharata. These 18 chapters are divided into three sections of six chapters each [śatka-trayam] which characterizes as a successive approach to deliver one from Samsara to the ultimate human goal of Moksha.
· Chapter 1-6 deals with Karma Yoga to purify one's mind through selfless action · Chapter 7-12 deals with Upasana Yoga to turn one's extroverted mind within through devotion to God · Chapter 13-18 deals with Jnana Yoga to realize one's own Self as nothing but the Absolute Existence, Consciousness, and Bliss
The objective behind this event is to spread this eternal message of spiritual wisdom to the world. We would like to extend this invitation to everyone to join us on this great occasion!
