All in Good Spirit: A Look into GURJAR’s Casino Night Festivities
“Journey of 1000 miles begins with first steps taken in the right direction”. This is the mission that drives GURJAR towards doing its bit to collect much needed funds for local charities. GURJAR with its 40 years of history behind it, continuous to evolve and find new ways to bring the community together and delivers on its commitment of giving.
Casino Night organized by GURJAR is a classic combination of great intentions, hard work by its energetic organizers and whole-hearted support it gets from sponsors and participants.
The night started on the right foot with hordes of participant bringing donations for the food-pantry run by We Care Charity. A novel approach adopted by GURJAR to applaud all such donors by giving out additional casino play money was an incentive that was easy to remember and easier to follow up on. Shefali Desai Kalyani the leading light for WCC was truly touched by the gesture and amount of food collected.
Amazing sounds of Bollywood music provided by DJ Rakesh and finger-licking food provided by Gurnam were the harbinger of things to come. Glorious night of fun and social caring was launched in true spirit.
Although this year’s event drew less crowds compared to the last year resulting in lower gate receipts, the donations by sponsors surpassed everyone’s expectations.
Desai Foundation as the Grand Sponsor and BMW Sudbury as the Gold Sponsor lead the way, followed by Smita’s Boutique, Tufts Healthcare, Leader Bank, Zizza Insurance, Laer Realty, and Value Mortgage. Icing on the cake was a giant chocolate bar sent to the event by Power Liquor distributor along with a $750 check!
Raffle prize providers included Jay Patel, Shrenik Shah of Avidia Bank, Comfort Inn Woburn, Town Crier Cape Code and Vipul Patel of Jai Ambe Groceries.
Both professional sports ticket give-away which included Celtics, Bruins and Revolution tickets and the Hotel stays were most sought-after raffle draws. The wine bottles donated by Evergreen ADH shone well amongst plethora of prizes and giveaways.
The heart of the event, the casino games itself were stupendous success. The enthusiasm and excitement engulfed the event. With cheerful dealers conducting the games, poker, roulette and craps tables drew loud cheers reaching across the hall whenever a fellow player beat down on the house. An event which finds no equal in terms of participation, comradery and pure joy.
The Spirit of GURJAR and the Spirit of our sponsors and our patrons rose above the routine on this remarkable un-forgetful evening.
