The Big Fake Desi Wedding

Shaadi Bazaar arranged a wedding expo featuring a 'Big Fake Wedding' to give would be brides and grooms a sense of what to expect at their own wedding.  The expo was held at the Hilton Inn in Woburn, MA on April 1, 2018. It featured a large group of wedding related vendors.

“When I started to the do this event my cousin said why don’t you just do a wedding so people can see exactly what it is all about?” says Sayjal Menon. The idea hit home with her and she has worked to feature a real wedding. “We usually ask people who have been married to apply. In return we do free photography for them. “ . This year’s bride and groom were Henal Motiwala and Kevin Fernandez.

Lovedecor with Rishi and Shruthi Bawa did the decorations and provided lighting and sound for the event. Other vendors including Choonri Connections by Seema Kapoor, Henna By Manisha Trivedi, Blueprint Occasions wedding coordinators, Shaadi Ke Card, Taufiq and Dyuti Majumdar for photography and food vendors showcased their products.

There was a raffle held at the event. All raffle money was matched by Shaadi bazaar and donated to Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation of USA to support the education of children living in remote rural villages in India. Ekal runs these schools at the low cost of a $1/day.

For me it was wonderful to be part of the wedding ceremony as an officiating priest describing the details of the Hindu Wedding Ceremony.

Several brides, grooms and their families came by  to talk to vendors. “I appreciate putting up a booth here. It brings a lot of referrals for me,” says Manisha Trivedi,  a Henna artist.
