Mahalakshmi Kubera Yagna - NESSP

On March 31st, the New England Shirdi Sai Parivar conducted a community Mahalakshmi Kubera Homam.  It was a divine experience.  The community homam was done to seek the blessings of the Goddess to have a successful completion of the temple building project.

Over hundred families came together to perform the Mahalakshmi Kubera Homam led by three priests at the NESSP temple in Chelmsford, MA.   Mahalakshmi is the Goddess of Aishwaryam- Prosperity and Kubera is considered the Divine banker. The prayer is often conducted to bless the doer with solving financial problems. When done in a community it often is used to bring projects to completion. The community homam was done to seek the blessings of the Goddess and Lord Kubera to have a successful completion of the temple building project.

Each devotee was given a Lakshmi coin that they performed the complete prayers to, including Panchamrita Abhishekam and Kumkum Archana. Following the chanting of the Purusha Sukhtam, the main part of the Homam was done with interspersing three rounds of Sri Suktam with Sarva Mangala Mangalye interspersed as the Samput Mantra.  The Kubera mantra was also chanted.

The Sri Suktam are hymns are found in the Rig Vedic khilanis, which are appendices to the ?kveda that probably date to pre-Buddhist times. If recited correctly with the  right intonation one can truly feel the grandeur of Mahalakshmi that the Rishis perceived as they chanted the verses.  The description of Mahalakshmi is some of the most beautiful ever seen.

At the end of the prayer it was hoped that Goddess Mahalakshmi would indeed bless NESSP for the successful completion of the temple building project. For more information on NESSP check out their website at www.nessp.org.
