“Bhoo-Dhanaam or donating land is a very important thing for all Hindus to do. However we never get a chance in the US. Thus we decided to have a Bhoo-Dhanaam program at our temple.  Our main deity is Mother Kalikambal and Lord Omkareswara. We also have Kalyana Sundara and Swyamvara Parvathy, whose Pushpanjali brings marriage for your son or daughter”, says   Bhairva ji, the founder of a new temple in Bellingham. 

“I was sitting in prayer one day when the word Bhoo-Dhanaam came to me. I realized that the Lord is asking me to give people of New England the opportunity to donate land. So for the construction of the new temple, instead of acquiring the land first and then raising funds for the temple, we decided to institute a Bhoo-Dhanaam program. The benefits of this are really tremendous. If you remember, in Vamana Avatar, King Bali was performing a Bhoo Danam for it is considered a very important donation”

“We have identified a piece of land for the temple. Where you are able to give 50$ worth of land or $10,000 we have the opportunity for you”, says Bhariva ji . 

Shivachariar Bhairava Sundaram is the Shishya of Swami Sathasivom, one of the foremost Saiva and Sakta practitioners in the world today, with years of tapas and intense bhakti towards the Mother.  After several years serving as the Priest at the Ashland Srilakshmi Temple, he quit and established a temple in his home. 

“ In 2010 a large package arrived from India, from my guru.  It was a majestic, 7 feet tall Sivalinga – a Sahasralinga in fact, with a thousand faces! Rejoicing in the arrival of this special guest, we installed the Sivalinga in the garage of our home along with some other deities we already had, including Mother Sri Kalikambal. I started performing daily worship to the Lord. That was 6 years ago” says Bhairava ji. 

What motivated him to start a new temple? “ I was diagnosed with a strange pancreatic mass. It had to be operated upon. The prognosis was quite bleak – in almost every case like mine, the mass usually turned out to be cancerous. I prayed fervently to the Lord in my garage for health and healing. And I promised him, “Lord, if I come out of this, I will build a temple in Your service. I will make sure You are established in Your own space.”

"Five days after the surgery, doctors were pleasantly surprised to see the test results – the mass was benign, not cancerous. To me, it was nothing short of a miracle. I immediately set out to fulfill the promise made to the Lord and Mother Sri Kalikambal that I will find them their own home – a temple. No longer will you be guests, I promised. With the help of friends and devotees, I found the perfect place in Bellingham.”

The temple is very unique. People can do the Abhishekam for Shiva themselves. There is also a beautiful room to do meditation where the Dhyana Lingam in installed. 

“I often heard people’s concern about marriage for their children. So we consecrated the Swayamvara Parvathy and Kalayana Sundara Shirnes.  Pushpanjali to these Dieties surely brings blessings of marriage for your son or daughter. We are planning a special Swayamvara Parvathy prayer soon”
