Dr. Dinesh Patel Named Paul Harris Fellow By Rotary International

Dr. Dinesh Patel, is chief of  arthroscopic surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. In recognition of his outstanding pioneering contributions in the field of Arthroscopy, MGH named The Dinesh Patel Arthroscopic Learning Lab at MGH in his honor on June 14, 2010.

Dr. Patel has organized camps, performed surgeries, taught and trained doctors in arthroscopic surgery not only in the USA, but all over India, and the world, thus helping millions of people who would otherwise be disabled. His pioneering work will continue to benefit generations to come. He has performed surgery on poor people in the villages of India, as well as on celebrities such as cricketer Kapil Dev and Red Sox great Ted Williams.

He co founded A Leg To Stand On, known as ALTSO, an organization in USA but started in India where needy children are provided with artificial limbs and now expanding globally.

Dr. Patel was accompanied by his wonderfully supportive wife Kokila.
In recognition of his charitable and philanthropic work, making a difference in the lives of hundreds of thousands of people around the globe, Rotary International is proud to recognize Dr. Patel with Paul Harris Fellowship which includes a citation, medallion and lapel pin.

Presentation of the award was made by Past Rotary International District Governor Victor Saldanha MD  and Dr. Janine Saldanha  at a ceremonial banquet at the Danversport Yacht Club, Massachusetts.
