Trivia

12/17/2003

Cricket is in the air. More so after a historic win against Australia in the 2nd test match at Adelaide. Bravo Dravid!!! So let’s stick to questions related to cricket this time.

Here are the answers to last trivia questions:
1. Nargis.
2. Exactly 100. (64 half centuries and 36 centuries )
3. Yaadon Ki Baarat as a child actor.
4. 1960.
Winners will be announced in the next issue of Lokvani.

1. The first question should be very obvious. You must have heard it over and over and over and over. Before this victory, India won a test match against Australia last time in ... which year? Do you remember?

2. India leads 1-0 in the current series. Or should I say, Australia trails the series 0-1. Recently, it has not happened so often for Australia - more so when they play at home. Do you remember when was last home series played when Australia trailed against another cricketing giant? The second part of this question is - name that country. (Let me give a subtle clue - this country recently won a test match against West Indies on same day - December 16th, 2003.)

3. Rahul Dravid. Pillar of this victory. Played an excellent knock of magic 233 in the first inning and unbeaten 72 in the second inning. This was his 16th century. Apart from this double century, he has scored double hundreds against a few countries. Can you name ALL the countries against which Rahul has scored double centuries? (You know one answer for sure - it's Australia. Give us the names of other countries only.)

4. This question should make all the difference in winning and losing! Ready? There was one more incidence in test cricket - more than 100 years ago - when team batting first scored more than 550 runs in the first inning and still lost the match. The winning team in that test match was England. Do you know which country lost to England after compiling such a huge total in the first inning?

If we have many entries with most correct answers, the next question will help us decide the winner(s). Do I know the answer to this question? No. Even I do not know now. What will be the total runs scored in the 4th test between India and Australia in the current series - to be played on 2-6 Jan 2004? Whoever is closest in this guess, will win the prize.

And, let me mention about an early bird special. I am sure you'll love it - the first entry with all correct answers wins a prize. So, get going….

Please fill the information below and click submit. Your answers should reach us on or before the next issue - that is 12/31/2003.
