Music Review: Top Ten Bollywood Songs Of The Week

Priyanka Jain Vora
10/26/2017

Bollywood top hit of the week is none other than the “Ghoomar” song from upcoming Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie, Padmavati set to release December 1st. With over 13 million view in just 24 hours, this song starring Deepika Padukone had a big hype behind its release. Deepika took 66 twirls during this Rajasthani folk dance in a 30 kg (and 30 lakh!) lehenga! She tweeted: “The Ghoomar Song has to be one of the most difficult yet most fulfilling song sequences I have ever shot for! #GhoomarToday @FilmPadmavati." Ghoomar style of dance is performed by Rajput women on special occasions in Rajasthan and involves performers pirouetting while moving in a large circle. Certainly the sets and costumes are stunning – but I expected more elaborate choreography for a Sanjay Leela Bhansali song. “Ghoomar” depicts the era and dance style accurately, however the hype had me begging for more! Nonetheless, Shreya Ghosal’s “Ghoomar” is my #1 song for the week, and probably will stay at the top for a while. Let’s wait and see what the rest of the Padmavati album brings!
