Harvard Tamil Chair - New England - Grand Musical Fundraiser Event

10/05/2017

Karthick Iyer's Indosoul Team with Devan Ekambaram - Grand Musical Event for Harvard Tamil Chair Fundraiser on September 30th at Concord Middle School, Boston was a full packed show with 350 people. This is something unusual on a Vijayadasami Evening.

All started with the traditional Tamil Thai Vazhthu sung by Rhode Island Tamil Sangam (RTIS) and NETS (New England Tamil Sangam) members. Followed by the Tamil Thai Vazhthu, our HTC Pillar - Dr.Sambandham Ayya gave the introduction about Harvard Tamil Chair and how bringing a Chair benefits us.
Bamiela Venkat, who lead the Musical Event introduced the IndoSouls Musicians Team to the audience. It was a proud moment to introduce the Indosouls Team and Devan Ekambaram who has soulfully agreed to do the musical event for FREE which is remarkable and highly applaudable.

The show was stupendous with Classical and Cine songs rendition in a more fusioned way.
Following are the songs:

Sri Pithukuli Murugadoss and Portugese Fernandez - Fusion - Senkathir Vaanam
Clowns Junket
Two Sides of Karma
Saranga Convergence
Bharathiyaar Krithi - Aasai Mugam Marandhu Pocchey - Karthick sang it very beautifully.
Varali's Voice
Raghuvamsa - All time favorite - Once more requested many times by the audience.
Nagumo
Boundless
Ninnukkori - Karthick Iyer had a twist here, people were expecting Ninnukkori Varnam but he gave it from movie Agni Natchathiram - Illayaraja's blockbuster hit.
Vishwanathan Velai Vendum - old is gold hit song.

Devan's hits included:
Nenjukkul Peithidum - Vaaranam Aaayiram
Kadhal Sadukudu - Alaipaayuthey
Manadhai Thirudi Vittai - Kandu Kondein Kandu Kondein
Ilaya Nila - Payanangal Mudivathillai
Rum Bum Bum

Audience throughly enjoyed it. They were so cheerful and did not leave the show until the end. There was a short break for dinner. They all came back with the same enthusiasam. The Musicians got the standing ovation from the audience which was greatly received by them.
All ended well with the vote of thanks from Karthikeyan Ramu and CT Narayanan.

As a fundraiser purpose, Sridevi and Bamiela Co-hosted the  show with ceremony check. We raised $25,000 which is great for the event.
