Chinmaya Mission Boston Youth Camp

Being Your Best: You Only Live Once (YOLO)

Exploring the Life and Teachings of the Vedanta Kesari - Swami Vivekananda

Youth Camp will be conducted by Acharya Vivek for rising 9th graders to rising 1st years in college to learn concepts of Vedanta through activities and discussion.

This will be an amazing opportunity to spend time with Acharya Vivek ji, learn leadership skills and explore strategies for self-empowerment. In a society with constant challenges and without time for one’s own self reflection, this camp will reflect on the life and works of Swami Vivekananda and provide a framework to explore one’s life and the purpose behind it. Instead of constantly chasing success, without clear direction or purpose, it will allow students to understand the importance of clarity behind every action.

Vivek ji will share simple practical techniques to learn Vedanta through lectures, group discussions and outdoor activities. The young people attending this camp will be in the company of other students going through similar phases in life.

Vivek ji will be assisted by five Yuka Kendra volunteers. These are stellar youngsters who are now in college or have just started their careers. They camp attendees will have an opportunity to spend time with great role models who can guide them and share their experiences.

The young people attending this camp will have opportunities to explore their inner creativity with fun activities. The camp will explore the importance of non-verbal communication, appreciate the beauty of the same experience from different view points, and conceptualize and prioritize the significant people, objects, and aspirations all students have in life.

About Acharya Vivek:

Acharya Vivek is a spiritual teacher and public speaker with Chinmaya Mission, an international non-profit organization working to transform individuals through the knowledge of Vedanta.  In 2007 he graduated from the intensive residential Vedanta course, taught by Pujya Swami Tejomayananda at Sandeepany Sadhanalaya in India and has continued to serve Chinmaya Mission in various capacities since.  Through his inspiring, innovative, and insightful style, Acharya Vivek makes Vedanta relevant, relatable and reachable to audiences across generations and cultures.  An array of community groups, academic forums, professional associations, medical departments and religious organizations around the world, such as The Office of the Pentagon in Washington and the Regional Mental Health Care Hospital in London, have invited Acharya Vivek to share his wisdom on life and living.  He was even invited to become the first Hindu Chaplain of the United States Department of Defense, a position he ultimately declined in order to serve Chinmaya Mission fully.  Acharya Vivek currently serves as the resident Acharya of Chinmaya Mission Niagara and Chinmaya Mission Pittsburgh as well as the Deputy Director of Chinmaya Yuva Kendra (CHYK) West, the youth wing of Chinmaya Mission in North America
