Hasya Kavi Sammelan: Humor With Social Message

On Saturday July 29th, Milan presented an evening of laughter "Hasya Kavi Sammelan" at Mehfil Restaurant, Tewksbury, MA.

Popular well known poet standup comedian Manjit Singh, enthralled the audience with his poems and jokes followed by Tej Narayan Sharma from Gwalior who recited few of his popular satire poems.

Rashmi Shanon from New Delhi readout her Nazm. She also sang a few Ghazals in her soulful voice. Audience loved her poem on Daughters.

Audience bursts into laughter when local talent Preet Pal Singh started the program with his own poem.  Praveen Misra also recited a popular poem of Shail Chaturvedi.

Hindi Manch President Preetesh Shrivastava shared his long association with Manjit Singh and others, and echoed the need of such shows which brings people together who have great admiration of Hindi and Urdu.

Nearly three hours non stop laughter evening was attended by community leaders like Harish and Bini Dang, Syed Ali Rizvi, Sanjay Jain, Pradeep Shukla (Radio Music Team), Anil Saigal (Lokvani), Sanjay and Sangeetha Saxena, Kiran Nath and others.

Milan President Mr. Suresh Sharma thanked the audience, poets, Mehfil owner Tipu Chowdhury along with Milan volunteers Ashutosh Tejal Patel, Anil Chawla, Praveen Misra and Vikas Nagrath for making this event a great success.

Each poet used humor in a dignified manner to convey a social message. The show was one of the best that Boston has hosted. For all those who missed it, see you next year.
