IIT Alumni Association of Greater New England hosted their annual picnic on Saturday, July 22 2017 at the Cochituate State Park, in Natick MA.  The picnic was coordinated by a team led by Dr. Neeta Aggarwal (IIT Delhi).

Indian Institutes of Technology Association of Greater New England (IIT AGNE) is a charitable organization dedicated to engaging in and supporting charitable educational and scientific research activities. It was incorporated by by a group of engineering and technical professionals that were initially drawn together due to their common educational foundation from the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and residing in the Greater New England area including the states of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Vermont. IIT AGNE is a membership organization, with membership open to any person who supports its goals.

More than 75 alumni of different IITs attended along with their family and friends. The graduating class ranged from the late 50s when IIT Kharagpur was the only IIT around, to more recent graduates.

Following on the heels of a very successful conference last year, IIT AGNE has hosted a variety of events featuring leading speakers in the field of technology. They also have hosted visiting IIT Faculty.

The IIT AGNE women’s group is also very active and is planning an event in December to discuss special ways to ensure success for female students at IITs. The recent introduction of a rule to have 20% women in the admitted class makes this an important initiative.
