Sufi music lovers were treated to a magical musical evening featuring Ghazals, Punjabi songs and a few golden oldies from Bollywood at the Regent Theater in Arlington, MA on July 2, 2017.  The event titled “Awaaz-e-Sufi” featured two artists, Ritu Sagar from New England and Dr. Mamta Joshi from India. Ritu Sagar is the first Indian singer here in the New England area to launch her own music with four albums (Akhiyan, Ishq Da Hall, Aashq Maland, Nain Pyase and currently working on Gazal album “Yaad Ban Kar”.  Ritu Sagar has a Master’s degree in music and is currently enrolled in a PhD in Music program in India.  Vikram Sagar of Bollywood Promotion, USA, brought the event to New England. The Bollywood segment of the show opened with Boston prime time celebrity singer Ritu Sagar.  What an amazing selection of songs.  Her melodious Bollywood voice with upbeat music filled the hall with harmonious vibration. The delightful sound of Ritu’s music tracks sparked the audience to dance with joy and won the hearts of New England audiences.

Already fired up, the audience was in for a second treat with a grand presentation by Dr. Mamta Joshi.  Accompanied by phenomenal musicians, Dr. Joshi seamlessly glided through Ghazals and popular Punjabi and Hindi songs. Her presentation of Ghazals of Mirza Ghalib brought a lot of appreciation from the audience. Her grasp of music, poetry and rhythm shone through her presentation.

Lata Rao, Director, IAGB and untiring Saheli volunteer who is always there to support music served as the chief guest for the event. She was very appreciative of the event and encouraged Ritu to present another show.

“The magic of producing outstanding shows is not over yet; I am ready to produce another big Bollywood event in August and the date will be announced soon,” Vikram said.
