07/06/2017

Indian Americans for Burlington (IAB) participated in Annual "Burlington Pride Parade" on July 4th which was sponsored by American Legions. This is the third year in a row that the Indian community in Burlington has proudly paraded along the side of Burlington community in the streets of Burlington with IAB banner and dancing to Bollywood music.

The Burlington Pride Parade started at 335 Cambridge Street at 11:00 AM and marched on the Cambridge Street and Winn Street to Memorial School covering a distance of about 2 miles.  Various  groups and organizations came with their banners, floats, decorated vehicles, music bands and costumes to participate in the parade.  A number of Indian residents participated in the parade some wearing traditional Indian Outfits that added extra color to the parade.

It was a great opportunity for the Indian Americans to greet fellow citizens and wish them a Happy Fourth.  Children came out to shake hands and some even did a little swing to the Bollywood music.  It surely was a great moment when citizens of all ethnic backgrounds got together to celebrate the Independence Day of their country.

Menka Jethra, Gini Pookottil, Anil Saigal, Dinesh Tanna, Shital Bhammar, Indra Deb, Ram Satyaprasad, Ram Voruganti, Babu Jetra, Ketki Tanna and Sutanuka Basu lead the efforts of IAB participation in the Burlington Pride Parade.  Neil Pandit, a Burlington High School students; who is also the designated IAB photographer, done a wonderful job of capturing the moments in his camera.   We thank all the participants for making this a success.
