The Kerala Association of Greater Boston (KANE) served up an interesting evening of melodies and humor on November 14 at the Keefe Tech School Auditorium in Framingham, MA.

Visiting artists, mimics and singers from the Kalabhavan School in Kochi regaled the audience with jokes and imitations that spiced up the show.
Welcoming the Kane community Rev. Dr. James Aerthayil from Kalabhavan gave a quick overview of what the Kalabhavan talent residential school can offer the NRI student. He said that the institution is dedicated to promote the arts and to impart to its students a comprehensive education package, in academics and various art forms.
The residential cum day care school is located at Edachira, Kakkanad in Kochi, Kerala and offers instruction to children from pre school level to the High School level.

The artists present at the concert were all veteran singers; though young in years they had many stage performances under their belts. Their comfort was evident in the ease with which they began the program by interacting with the audience and involving them in every song.

Young performers pranced around the stage energetically; some even came down to the crowds trying to coax reluctant Malayalis to shake a leg.
A few good sports took to dancing in the aisles much to the delight of all present.
Small children, all decked up in their best clothes joined the artists on stage and danced to their hearts content.

The mix of both old and new Hindi and Malayalam songs meant that there was something for everyone. The mimic kept everyone in stitches with his antics; one can never forget his impression of Kamal Hasan.

The Kerala Association of New England was started in 1970 and has brought together families and friends, in the area for more than 30years. Currently the association boasts of over 500 member families and this number are growing. The association is governed by a group of individuals who volunteer their time and their effort.
On Saturday, December 20, Kane has its annual Christmas and New Year function. For details please visit the KANE website www.kaneusa.org.
