Shri Dwarkamai Vidhyapeeth Welcomes Hindu New Year With All Day Bhajan Utsav

Every year Shri Dwarkamai Vidyapeeth of North Billerica hosts Annual Bhajan Utsav in the week of Vasantha Navaratri to welcome the beginning of spring or Hindu New Year. This event is a series of bhajan mala performed by different devotional groups/classical music teachers leading to formation of all day bhajan utsav. This year’s event was conducted on April 2nd with enthusiastic participation of local music groups/teachers for the entire day.

The morning segment of the bhajan Utsav was started by blissful offering of Smt. Preeti Chakravarty and students classical compositions with Dr. Nishikant Sonwalkar giving able tabla accompaniment. This was followed by bhajans presented by enthusiastic teachers and students of Acton Sloka group. About 50 students from Acton sloka group learning in different levels of sloka group presented sweet songs under the able guidance of their teachers.

 

After madhaya aarati students of Surmani Shri. Dattatreya Velankar presented sonorous classical based bhajans. They were accompanied by Shri. Ravi Torvi on harmonium. Enthusiastic young Carnatic music students of Hamsa Gayatri Music Academy sang many devotional songs with lots of joy. Smt. Shuchita Rao and her students offered numerous bhajans and Hindustani classical compositions in the lotus feet of Shri Sai. The bhajan mala continued in the afternoon with the devotional offering by Dwarakamai volunteers bhajan group followed by peaceful devotional bhajans by the Chinmaya Swaranjali Boston group. The program concluded with melodious performances of Soundarya Lahiri bhajan group after the dhoop aarati.

 

The whole day bhajan utsav from 9am to 9pm had over 150 participants, bringing in lots of positive energy and joyous beginning of the Hindu New Year. Dwarkamai ‘Thanks’ to all the participants and the volunteers to make the event successful. Dwarkamai is an nonprofit organization actively engaged in organizing health, social, spiritual workshops and events benefiting all. Every year Shri Sai Palkhi Utsav is organized by Shri Dwarkamai.
