LearnQuest Announces Artist Line up for the 12th Annual Music Conference

For the past eleven years, on every Easter weekend, LearnQuest Academy of Music has presented a grand festival of Indian classical Music. Keeping with this tradition, this year the 12th annual LearnQuest  music festival will be held on Friday–Sunday, April 14-16 at the Center of Fine Arts at Regis College, Weston, MA. As in the past, the festival will feature great maestros and rising stars of Hindustani and Carnatic classical music.

One of the goals of the festival is to expose the community and the music students to the highest level of musicianship in Indian Classical Music, both in Hindustani and Carnatic styles.Based in Waltham MA, LearnQuest Academy of Music is a music school that offers instruction in various disciplines of Hindustani and Carnatic music.

This year the LearnQuest festival brings an exciting array of vocal, instrumental, jugalbandi and fusion concerts which promises to satisfy a wide palette of musical tastes. It includes some rarely heard combinations of instruments such as a Sitar-Sarangi jugalbandi by a team of young musicians Rajib Karmarkar and Sohail Khan with Pt. Sandip Das on Tabla.

A highlight of this year’s conference includes several musician-brother teams. They include the well-known Gundecha Brothers (Dhrupad singers), Trichur Brothers (Carnatic vocalists), Iyer Brothers (Carnatic Veena duo) and Rajnish and Ritesh Mishra (Hindustani vocalists), sons of the eminent Hindustani vocalist Pt. Rajan Mishra.

Among the senior, distinguished featured carnatic artists are Sangeetha Choodamani Vidhwan O.S. Thiagarajan, and the inimitable Kadri Gopalnath on Saxophone with master violinist Kanyakumari, who is the recipient of the coveted Sangeetha Kalanidhi award of 2016. The Hindustani lineup includes the eminent and highly acclaimed vocalist Aarti Ankalikar and the slide guitarist Debashish Bhattacharya.

The festival will also feature illustrious, young and upcoming Hindustani vocalist Ruchira Panda and Carnatic vocalist Vijayalakshmi Subramaniam.

Damru, an exciting instrumental ensemble consisting of young, outstanding Carnatic and Hindustani musicians from Chennai will present a Hindustani-Carnatic instrumental fusion music concert.
