ISW At The Celtics

Press Release
12/07/2016

The India Society of Worcester (ISW) returned to the TD Banknorth Garden on Friday, December 2 to watch the Boston Celtics defeat the Sacramento Kings 97-92.

Once again, over 120 members of the community exclusively took part in several  game night experiences.  Under the guidance and choreography of Darshana Jani, a group of over 30 dancers performed on the parquet floor during the pre-game activities.  Dancing to a medley of Hindi and Bollywood music; the troupe shined in their costumes and looked larger than life as they were broadcast on the game screen above the court.  The Celtics are now a perfect 5-0 when the ISW community performs a cultural dance during the pre-game activities.

Another amazing opportunity provided by the Celtics allowed 15 of our ISW girls and boys to stand in front with the Sacramento Kings players during the National Anthem.  Known as the Anthem Buddies, the youngest members of the ISW aged 6 to 13 proudly represented their families and the community by wearing the most vibrant kurtas and sherwanis.

“We wanted to celebrate Indian culture and the Indian-American community in a big way,” said Ragini Seth, event organizer. “The game is always fun and it’s so wonderful to see new faces every year attending the game and kids performing for Darshana-ji.”
