IAGB hosted its first-ever Antakshari Competition in Burlington, MA. The winning teams were:
Dostana - Nandish Desai and Neha Ghalsasi
Rock On - Krish Aneja and Vasudha Kudrimoti
Burmaniacs - Anish Desai and Krishna Desai
Jhankar - Pratibha Shah and Bhanu Vadhera
Surile Iyers - Vidya Iyer and Prakash Iyer
With nearly 20 teams and 40 contestants taking part, the only Bollywood songs competition was quite stiff. The competition involved four rounds of questions. The standard antalshari, singing a song with a particular word, singing the song after hearing 10 seconds of the introductory music, and singing the song which had a with a particular context which was provided as a clue in English.
On behalf of IAGB, Aditi Taylor and her team did a superb job organizing the event. The last round for qualifying for the semifinals in early January is this weekend in Shrewsbury.
