Friends of Indian Senior Citizens Organization, (FISCO) Burlington, MA held their 6th get together Diwali Dinner Celebration on Saturday, November 12th, 2016 at Belmont Council on Aging, 266 Beech Street, Belmont, MA.

The program was designed to bring together its members and other senior communities along with their families, children and grandchildren providing unique opportunity to get to know each other. The hall was jam packed with about 200 guests attended from various towns. The program started at 4:00 PM with light appetizer followed by an introduction by FISCO’s vice president Mr. Raman Gandhi, a brief speech by Belmont Center Director Ms. Nava Nev Vogal and run down of FISCO’s activities by FISCO’s president Mr. Dinesh Shah. The night got more colorful with grandchildren’s’ talent show and beautiful voice of Suzaana Naik and Ujjwal Parith singing Bollywood’s old songs.

Raman Gandhi presented a need for an Organization like this saying “FISCO is a nonprofit organization and does not have any charitable, religious or political agenda. Our mission is simple “share and care” of seniors and would like to inspire all elders around the world to organize such a group whereby they can lean on somebody’s shoulder and vent out.” FISCO’s founder Rita Shah and directors Pushpa Shah and Chanchal Bhandari presented real life stories to strengthen this need.

The program was concluded with delicious Indian vegetarian dinner of Palak-Paneer, Tindora-Potato, Dal, Rice, Kachori, Shrihkand, Roti, Salad and Papad and a complementary desert “Kulfi” from Bollywood Delights. The cost for the dinner for FISCO members and their family was only $.7.00 per person while for non members it was $15.00 per person. We thank many of our community leaders for sponsoring and contributing to this event enabling us to offer a fun filled dinner at such a low price.

FISCO organize several events during the year like picnic, overnight trip, Diwali dinner besides offering subsidized Indian vegetarian lunch for $3.00 at Burlington Senior Center on every Wednesday. FISCO’s lifetime membership fee is merely $100.00 which automatically includes entire immediate family including grandchildren.
