Radha Jalan Elected President Of IDC

Press Release
11/10/2016

In an Executive meeting last Saturday, we adopted a new operating procedure of IDC creating the position of a President to be in charge of administrative, financial and operational responsibilities.  This will help offload work from the team working with me such that we can concentrate more on the seminars and the content development. The content side of the organization would be responsible to create an online presence of India's cultural history through research, review and creative design.  Together we would aim for a physical structure to be designed as an International Educational and Cultural Center, tentatively targeted to open in 2021.

Dr. Radha Jalan was nominated and approved to assume the position of President for the year 2017. She would help organize the administrative unit including the fundraising activities.  Radha earned a PhD from University of Florida in Language Department and has been the President of an alternate technology company dealing with fuel cells since 1992.  Mother of two, she lost her husband at an early age, but succeeded in fighting the social conservatism to run the family and the business as a single parent. An educator and a social activist, Radha has been known to me since 1983, together with other like-minded parents we were helping to support the upcoming Indian Cultural School in Boston.  Radha will reach out to you on the organizational needs as she creates the plan and the strategy. Please welcome Radha to her official position in IDC.

I take the opportunity to alert you of our next seminar on "The Cultural History of the Vedic Period 500BC- 700BC" scheduled for January 14, 2017, at Lexington Community Center, Lexington, MA.  We will shortly announce the details on registration. We will have six tracks as earlier:  Geography and People; Reshma Ghanekar, Art and Culture: Paromita De, Language and Literature: Prem Nagar, Philosophy and Religion: Vrittamani Ramapriya, Science and Technology: Bijoy Misra, Administration and Politics: Raghavendra Sarangapurkar.  Please write to me if you would like to sponsor the event with a donation.  We will acknowledge in the program brochure.
