Chinmaya Mission Boston Welcomes Pujya Guruji

Press Release
07/28/2016

This has been a memorable year for the members and friends of Chinmaya Mission Boston (CMB)! On May 8, Pujya Gurudev’s Birth Centenary was celebrated with great devotion and spirit. Last week (July 21 – 26), Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayanandaji visited Boston as part of his U.S. tour prior to stepping down as the worldwide head of Chinmaya Mission early next year. Pujya Guruji was accompanied by Swami Shantanandaji who heads the Chinmaya Mission West.

The 6-day series of lectures included “Bhagavat Gita in Daily Living” conducted by Pujya Guruji every evening. This was a big draw and hundreds attended the talk every day that was followed by Prasad dinner. Swami Shantanandaji delivered lectures in the morning on the topic - “Gopika Geetam”. Pujya Guruji also visited the Metrowest center where he spoke about “Roles and Goals” in our lives.

Some takeaways were that one should love human beings for who they and not what they are, and do not become a slave of materialistic things.

On Saturday, July 23, Pujya Guruji was felicitated by Dr. Gopala Dwarakanath on behalf of CMB, in recognition of him recently being awarded “Padma Bhushan” by the Government of India. A commemorative souvenir, “Chinmaya Maruti” was released to mark the special visit and also Pujya Gurudev’s Birth Centenary. The next morning, Pujya Guruji and Swami Shantanandaji conducted Guru Paduka Puja. This was followed by a talk on the topic “Guru – The Guiding Light”.

Cultural programs presented by various CMB groups preceded Pujya Guruji’s lectures each evening and they were well received by the audience. The event was a big success thanks to many Chinmaya sevaks’ help and support.
