On July 24th  Dev Patil, Founder of Desi Baatey will be bringing the newest show in town “ What's done is done” based on the Shakespeare play ‘ Macbeth. Famed Director Rajat Kapoor directs the play which includes an all-star cast in Ranvir Shorey, Kalki Koechlin, Vinay Pathak and others.

Dev Patil, founder of Desi Baatey talks to Lokvani on how the website’s platform hopes to provide insights and data to Indian events for better accuracy. Dev Patil has over 15 years experience in IT and building e-commerce websites for small businesses that generate revenue and help improve bottom lines. According to him, “Small businesses lack knowledge and resources to take advantage of the e-commerce, social media to promote their businesses. Many small businesses do have websites but in most cases they don’t make money for them. It is just a page that provides basic information about their offerings. My company takes these basic website to next level. We make them mobile and search engine friendly, integrate them with their social media accounts and more. We also add e-commerce component where possible. This helps the businesses to attract new customers and add a new steady stream of revenue”.

The company Clover24 has focused its attention on the restaurant industry and have been helping many restaurants with all their IT needs. This include Point of Sale systems, websites, security systems and more. They also provide food safety training to restaurant staff and owners which is a requirement in Massachusetts. More details about their food safety training programs can be found at FoodSafetyMA.com.

What prompted you to start Desi Baatey?

Few years ago we built a website for an Indian show to promote and sell the concert tickets online. Show was for an academy award winner singer and music director from Bollywood. When we build the website I noticed that when local promoters bring their show in the Boston area they do not have any data that can provide them any insights how the tickets sales will be or what kind of sales they can expect. There are many websites that help event organizers to sell tickets online, to name a few are Sulekha.com, TicketHungama.com and some others. But none of them provides any insights and data on what kind of tickets sales can be expected. Most of these websites also hold money for the tickets sales till after the event is done. Organizers have to follow-up for weeks with these website to get their money. So we saw a need for a better platform that can help organizers to take informed decisions based on the data. So we decided to build DesiBaatey.com. It is a platform, mainly for Indian event promotions. We provide online ticketing, social media promotions for any size event throughout USA. DesiBaatye.com works in the background so that customers shop tickets on event promoters own website giving customers a seamless experience.

Is this play the first one under this platform?

In last few years DesiBaatye.com has been helping many local event promoters with their online ticketing and social media marketing needs. All the work we do is in the background, however we saw a need for brand recognition for ourselves. Similar to Intel, which runs on most of the PCs but they came up with an brilliant ad campaign “Intel inside” to make aware of their brand. So to create brand awareness for DesiBaatey and also to bring something unique that haven’t been in Boston for long I decided to bring What’s Done Is Done to Boston. “What’s Done Is Done” is an English play based on Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Cast of the play is so good that it was an instant decision to signup for the play.

Tell us more about what audience can expect from this play?

The play is directed by Rajat Kapoor, who is also acting in the play. Actors include Ranvir Shorey, Kalki Koechlin, Vinay Pathak and others. This is Rajat Kapoor’s third Shakespeare play, He has done Hamlet and King Lear before. The play is scary and funny. It is a dark, humorous study of wicked human impulses like the thirst for power. It is an effective satire on the murderous times in which we live.

This will be a great play with a great cast. The play is on July 24th at Billerica High School auditorium at 5:00 PM. Tickets are $35, $55, $75 and VIP ($100). Tickets are available online at DesiBaatey.com or call at 978 397 2441.
