Shatranj Ke Mohare - IAGB To Present Yet Another Gem!

IAGB brings to the good folks of Boston the hilarious rib tickler, the play Shatranj Ke Mohare. Directed by Mr. Mohan Dali, who is renowned for giving Rajesh Khanna his first break on stage in this very play many years ago, this production will feature some of the finest talents in the Boston area.

The play will be presented at the Burlington High School on November 1, 2003 at 4PM.

This is a play for the discerning among theater-goers, one that will remain in one's mind long after one has seen it on stage. Subtleties abound in this intellectual, multi-layered work. Performed over 5000 times to packed audiences world-wide, this is indeed a rare opportunity for Boston area residents.

The Hindi translation of P.L.Deshpande’s 1957 Marathi play, Tujhe Ahe Tujpashi (What is yours is within you!) Shatranje ke Mohare is charming and refreshingly witty. Pu La, considered a Marathi cultural icon, was poet, singer, playwright and a prolific writer among other things. His works were filled with barbed humor with deep cultural undertones.

Said Ram Voruganti, President, IAGB “As usual, IAGB is interested in presenting only the very best to the public. We are pleased to have Mohanji and his troupe perform for us, it is indeed a great honor for us to stage this and we invite each and every one of your readers to come and watch this amazing production. Please book your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.”

For more information and to book tickets, please call 781.229.2209, 781.784.0614, 781.863.1760, 508.652.0180 or email natak_inquiry@yahoo.com. Refreshments will be available at a fair price.

Proceeds benefit IAGB, the premier Indian-American organization in New England and will go towards presenting free community events such as the just completed India Day 2003 and the soon to come Indian Republic Day celebration.
